Individual therapy is a collaborative process between a therapist and a person in therapy. Common goals of therapy can be to inspire change or improve quality of life. People may seek therapy for help with issues that are hard to face alone.
FLY Services
Individuals
Families
Family therapy is a type of psychological counseling (psychotherapy) that can help family members improve communication and resolve conflicts.
Couples
Couples therapy is a type of psychological counseling geared towards engaging couples in fostering a deeper understanding of concerns with the primary focus on resolution. Couples therapy teaches the couple to transition from focusing on the problem to developing solutions with affective communication as the important element to restoring relational intimacy.
Groups
Group therapy helps individuals develop communication skills and socialization skills, and allows clients to learn how to express their issues and accept criticism from others. Group therapy allows individuals to develop self-awareness by listening to others with similar issues.
CBT for weight goals
Weight loss therapy is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which is an approach to psychotherapy used to treat a multitude of concerns. Cognitive behavioral therapy helps people increase awareness, gain insight and eventually challenge and change, the negative cognitions (or thoughts) that often drive the “unhealthy” behaviors. CBT can also help people get to the core of the problem, as the relationship with food is often just the symptom of a deeper concern.

Ready to FLY
- The first step starts with you. Contact your prospective FLY therapist. A Free brief 15min phone conversation will take place to get information on the type of support you are requesting. Your prospective FLY therapist will ask for basic information and together you will explore if the therapeutic relationship may be a good fit. If the commitment to start your FLY journey together is made, you will schedule an appointment for intake either in-person or telehealth. Your FLY therapist will require sensitive information to get you started on your FLY journey.
During your FLY intake appointment, you will review informed consent paperwork. Your FLY therapist will gather a detailed background history and you will receive more information about FLY policies. You are welcome to come prepared with completed forms for your intake appointment. This also gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have regarding treatment. An intake appointment is not considered therapy. This appointment allows your FLY therapist to gain an understanding of your needs.
- In the first few sessions, you will explore your goals for therapy. Your FLY therapist will focus on building rapport as research has shown that the therapeutic relationship in addition to other factors, contributes to positive treatment outcomes. The length and number of sessions will differ depending on your goals and needs for FLY therapy.
